Soaring Perfection Training: A glorious start in Denmark
· by Kai Kessler
The first week was glorious: we were out with the wings every day. The weather was perfect and most of our crew were at the coast for the first time.
Some came with the aim of doing launch training here for their “launches in the mountains”. By the end of the week everyone was happy with their progress: “I've finally understood my wing!”, or: “I've lost my fear of strong gusts.”, or: “I had no idea how beautiful and relaxed flying at the coast is.” 😎🤘💯
Well then, welcome to the “coastal pilots' family”…
Our second S.P.T. week (FDS27.26) here in Denmark started quite differently: the course list was mostly familiar names.
So in the first session I had the chance to analyse first of all “what's still there” in terms of technique after a year. And lo and behold – our training is definitely lasting, and we can use it as a solid foundation and really let rip😎💯🤘
We mostly went over the dune at Hvide Sande (opens in a new tab) – with their own wings and with the small ones too. This week it was very easy to meet everyone at their level and support them, so that yesterday new COASTAL PILOTS were born: at the start of week FDS27.26 some couldn't imagine staying up for long on such a “small mountain” as the 10-metre-high dune.
And then yesterday in week FDS27.26: team cross-country flying at the coast!😎🤘💯
Distances of up to 44 km were flown yesterday. And on the way home our flying school bus collected happily beaming faces at various crossings over the dune😎😍🤘💯
Today and tomorrow 80 km/h of wind are forecast… We're using the time to get a few things done that have been left lying for two weeks with these 14-hour days and usually three practical sessions a day…😎
As a special treat, the guys from Flare are coming to our camp on Saturday to answer all the questions about “Parakiting” and hold a testival – many thanks for that!
I'm already looking forward to the third week with you here! See you soon 😍🤘😎💯
