FLA51.24: Flying every day on the green island of Lanzarote…
· by Kai Kessler
¡Hola de la isla de Lanzarote amigos!
…and once again it's: flying every day on the GREEN island of Lanzarote😎🤘💯…
As reported last week – it had rained and it's getting greener, or more precisely: the island HAS turned green. And that despite the week so far being dominated by the strongest Calima yet ( tonnes of Sahara sand in the air )…
So the pre-Christmas week has so far been dominated by SE wind. That means we have two flying sites to choose from: Macher and Playa Quemada. The wind forecast promised us between 20 and 36 KNOTS of wind from Monday to Wednesday ( we are on the coast, after all 😎 )… And you know what – we went flying at Playa Quemada every day and have already had good training sessions at the hang-glider landing field in Macher! The basics are there. The first “first flights” in the impressive terrain of Playa Quemada, right above the Atlantic, have been completed too. So far a very successful week!
This morning we headed to Mala. Everyone flying – some completed the little cross-country hop to “the fish shack” on the beach for the first time… we say: ¡muy bien compañeros! 💯😍🤘
Here's the live report from Patrick in Mala:
“We set off for Mala today and first had a look at the landing fields and the terrain on site before hiking up to the upper launch site. 😮💨
For the first time this week we were all in the air together and didn't have to share the site with other pilots. It was great fun flying the ridge together as a group – some of us climbed well above the ridge and were in the air for 30 minutes until the wind took a lunch break.
One of us made it all the way down to the beach and already sorted out a few seats for us at the beach bar…”
Now there's a nice siesta before we go playing again later… 😎💯😍🤘
So this afternoon looks good again for our pilots… It just carries on seamlessly… and as a reward for today's “exertions”, our world's-best tapas cook will once again take care of the necessary wing loading at the weekly tapas evening at Casa la Costa in the villa…
And a look at the forecasts gives us an inkling that the next few days will be good again: probably the northern flying sites will be on too… Incredible!!! 😍💯
We're looking forward to the coming weeks!
Once again, THANK YOU for your unbelievably great interest in our advanced-training weeks, and special thanks for the many, many unbelievably good pieces of feedback from the last few weeks about living together in the villa and above all about my techniques and our attitude that these weeks here can be used by all participants as a kind of “intensive training camp for paraglider pilots” – positively and with maximum effect! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! THAT is exactly our intention, and we're delighted it comes across to you exactly like THAT!
For now we wish you a merry Christmas and hope you're having a time as great as ours!
¡Saludos y hasta pronto!
Annalena, Kai and the island flyers family 😎🤘💯😘
