¡Hola de la isla de Lanzarote!
The second course week of the current season in our pilots' paradise of the winter is in full swing. This week is a bit unusual – it looks like we won't be able to fly any of the ten north-facing flying sites… maybe Orzola on Saturday🤷
The current week is dominated by lots of west wind… so from today the Risco de Famara wants to be flown again. In the last few days we actually had some rain, but we were still able to collect quite a bit of airtime at Macher. We also kept ourselves excellently busy on the ground with the small wings and the big wings…
The next few days look very promising in the forecast: two or three days of gliding along the “Risco de Famara”… 700 metres above the Atlantic, with a breathtaking view of the neighbouring island La Graciosa and the bay of Famara! We hope we can fly the 28 km long and 650-metre-high “dune” in its entirety. Last week I flew the whole ridge – for what feels like the 30th time… and it fascinates me every single time!!!
Tonight looks like a sundowner from Las Nieves, down to the surfers' beach at Famara… THAT alone would be worth it! 600 metres of altitude into the setting sun, at 0.1 metres sink or 0.3 metres climb… either way – we're looking forward to the next few days here at 20 degrees and sunshine, and are very grateful to be allowed to be here for you!
Other than that, we've finished our tent village “Famara” (opens in a new tab) with the 16 m² tipis. Next week is also already fully booked and I'm looking forward to some familiar faces here! Thanks for your trust and our great time together here! So then: “¡Vamonos a la Risco de Famara!” – and hopefully not back home until after dark…
